Press the power icon button for 3-5 seconds so the tool starts heating up. Display will show the straightening comb is heating to the default temperature (370°F). Once the tool begins to heat up, the temperature lock will engage in 3-5 seconds (as shown by the lock icon on display and "LOC" when you move the dial in its locked state). Numerals will blink until heat setting is reached. To select a different temperature, rotate the dial clockwise and then immediately counterclockwise to disengage the temperature lock. Then choose your heat setting by turning the dial clockwise to increase temperature or counterclockwise to decrease. When done styling, hold the power icon button for 3-5 seconds to shut the tool off.
- Apply your L'ange heat protectant of choice.
- Select a manageable section of hair, 1"-1.5" in width.
- Using the comb on the underside of the section, begin near the root and glide at a slow pace down, pulling your hair as close to the base as possible to create tension.
- Depending on thickness and texture of your hair, an additional pass may be desired.
- Unplug Smooth-It and wait until completely cooled before storing away.

I have very wavy hair, semi frizzy. Although it does straighten my hair, I had to go through with several passes to get it to feel soft. My hair gets super frizzy and unmanageable and this straightening comb works amazingly. I put in my heat protectant and literally combed my hair with it and I was done in 5 minutes or less! Shipping was fast and I think I found everyone's Christmas gifts this year!

It is impossible to clean this straightener. There are so much buildup between the bristles and it says to use a Q-tip or cotton swap, but that simply does not fit between the bristles. I'm at a loss for how to clean this thing and it smells like burned hair every time I turn it on. Picture for reference. I have very long, healthy hair and healthy scalp. I've used this twice, both times after shower and blowdrying! Just burned buildup!

I found it difficult to use as you actually have to grab your hair and actually push it into the comb. Has to be small pieces at a time.The front pieces of my hair are very fine. It actually broke off half of my hair, about 3 inches off the bottom. The pieces I was actually able to do did straighten it well. I have natural curly hair and usually hair will be straight for awhile then half way through the day it starts to curl. It did stay straight the entire day.

My daughters and I absolutely love this smooth it comb. It will not burn your hands. It straightens the first time. Hands down recommend.
