I am currently using the Redness Relief Azelaic Acid. Would I use the serum before or after applying Azelaic Acid? Would moisturizer be the last step?

Face broke out in painful red welps
I used this product by itself on my freshly washed face and fell asleep. Woke up to swollen, dry, red welps on my face. Very painful would not recommend, it was harsh on my skin.
