Q&A

Q
How long does this stay good for? Can I use the same one from last year
Asked by Shannon
Official Answer By Clinique US
Some products include a Period After Opening (PAO) number (which shows a number followed by “M”) that indicates the number of months within which an opened product should be used or replaced. Once a product is opened and used, its integrity can be affected by such things as exposure to environmental conditions or from contact with the user’s skin. If a product is not fully used following that time frame, we suggest replacing it in order to assure product integrity. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
how does this compare to pep start & how well does it work as a primer?
Asked by J
Official Answer By Clinique US
Thanks for reaching out. Clinique Superdefense City Block Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Energy + Face Protector Primer is a lightweight sunscreen featuring Titanimum Dioxide, Zinc and Octinoxate to protect, plus Stop Signs™ Technology to combat a full spectrum of environmental aggressors. It creates a smooth, even base for makeup application. Clinique Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is an SPF fluid with mineral sunscreens. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Does this suncreen hydrate your skin?
Asked by Soph
Official Answer By Clinique US
Great question! Clinique Superdefense City Block Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Energy + Face Protector Primer is a daily SPF protector and not a hydrator. For all day hydration, we recommend Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator as your twice daily hydrator. In the morning, apply your Clinique Superdefense City Block Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Energy + Face Protector Primer after Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this product a mineral or chemical sunscreen?
Asked by jay
Official Answer By Clinique US
We are so glad you asked! Clinique Superdefense City Block Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Energy + Face Protector Primer has a balanced combination of physical and chemical sunscreens to provide gentle high levels of protection for skin. Apply after prepping skin with your 3-Step Skin Care System. Follow with makeup if desired and be sure to remove at the end of the day with a makeup solvent like CliniqueTake the Day Off Cleansing Balm. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
This doesn't have an expiration date, how long is it good for once you open it or receive it?
Asked by Jackie
Official Answer By Clinique US
Great question! Please reference the Period after Opening symbol on the package, which resembles a tuna fish can, and has a number and an "m" representing "months after opening." For example (24M) means that you should replace this product within (24 months) after first opening provided the product has been stored under normal conditions and not exposed to extreme temperatures. Was this answer helpful to you

Compared to my Volition Prismatic Shield . . .

Reading previous reviews almost made me pass on this great sunscreen. Once Volition changed their formula, I went on a hunt to escape white cast. I tried Black Girl Sunscreen and it was too oily . . . I could never seem to get my hands on the matte version. In comes Clinique. I think having never tr...

Meh.

I am another one of those people that used the Super Cityblock SPF40 for -years- (like a decade). I LOVED the product, I would chose purchasing it over feeding my kids (JK). But for real, I would always be willing to pay 3x as much as other facial screen suns for Clinique's because I just loved it t...

I love this face sunscreen. I bought a 2nd one to keep in my backpack. I'm a man with dry, sensitive, and very pale skin. This goes on easy and just needs a thin layer. It doesn't run into my eyes when I sweat. It goes on so smooth and quickly dries/absorbs into the skin. It has a slight tint - so that you don't look like a ghost with thick sunscreen. It looks natural, the tint does not show - it only prevents it from looking like white paint. It stays on when I sweat - and I sweat a lot. I am very happy with this sunscreen. It is part of an overall routine - but my skin has never looked better.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I use this in addition to my moisture surge. I love the hydration of moisture surge and love the finish of this sunblock. Everybody I have let try (varying skin types and shades) has looked amazing after using this. Your skin will look more evenly textured and smooth after using this. Its like wearing makeup, but you're not and it looks super natural. It also works fantastic under make up. Great primer. I have rosacea and acne prone skin that is sensitive and out of all of the products I have ever tried, this and moisture surge hydrate and protect the best. I have dry combination skin.

Bring Back City Block SPF 40 This is so disappointing!

I was Super City Block spf 40 user for years. Last Feb I was needing to replenish and found out that it had been discontinued! NOT happy with the replacement Super Defense at all. I do not like the texture- it is too sticky making putting makeup on over it a mess and the color is off. Please listen to your customers and just bring back the former product. I will not be repurchasing this product but would definitely buy the older one. If it's not broke, why fix it?

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
