I hated the smell in the bottle and in the shower,,,HOWEVER the smell changes once your hair dries and it does smell great duri...

WEIRD NEW SMELL!
I've been using this conditioner for close to a year now. but just recently I think they may have changed the formula because this last bottle I got smelled really gross. Everytime I showered with it I thought not conditioning my hiar would be better than that smell. What's even weirder is that the ...

Shampoo is a gel. Hard to get out of the bottle. However my hair looks very clean, but not dry or fly away. That is a plus!
White residue
I used to use Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo. Which I am returning The bottle looks different, I didn't think anything of it. I used it once on Sunday when I finish washing my hair It left my hair dry with white mold residue on my hair I had to rewash my hair with Amaika and Olaplex which I am sticking with …. Love the brand and its attempt to lessen the carbon/plastic footprint around high end products. Keeps my head feeling clean and refreshed after every use. Since it's such a staple in our household the refill makes the purchase feel that much more convenient.
Extremely dry hair
I have a lot of hair!! And I dont have thick hair I just have a lot of healthy hair and have always used good shampoo! After using this product for over 6 months my hair turned so dry and tangly. I switched back to my normal shampoo and after 1-2 months and a couple conditioning masks my hair was back to how it used to be. I love the smell and sensation of this shampoo but only use in moderation!!!!!
Major Formula Change - Tight, Itchy Scalp
I couldn't figure out why my FAVORITE shampoo was suddenly making my scalp feel tight, sore, and itchy. Even my face started burning! Because there was no indication on the packaging that the formula had changed, I had to look up the old ingredients to compare. And then I asked ChatGPT to analyze them for me. Will share in case this is useful for someone else: There are several differences between the two formulas, and a few ingredients stand out as possible culprits for your scalp irritation: 1. Surfactant Changes Removed: Sodium Laureth Sulfate Added: Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate This new surfactant is more aggressive than Sodium Laureth Sulfate and can be drying or irritating for sensitive scalps. 2. Menthol Variations Replaced Menthol with Menthyl Lactate: While both provide a cooling effect, Menthyl Lactate is milder but can still cause sensitivity in some people. 3. New Potential Irritants Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (a thickener and stabilizer) Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster, can be irritating in high concentrations) Terpineol, Pinene, Terpinolene, Turpentine (new fragrance components and possible allergens) Turpentine is especially notable—it can be a strong irritant. 4. Fragrance & Essential Oil Changes The new version contains Lavandula (Lavender) Oil/Extract and additional fragrance compounds like Geraniol, Limonene, and Citronellol, which are common allergens. The original version had Rosemary, White Ginger, Jojoba, and Aloe Extracts, which are now missing—some of these had soothing properties. Possible Reasons for Your Reaction The new surfactant (Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate) is more stripping. Added Turpentine, Pinene, and Terpineol are known irritants. The formula no longer contains as many soothing extracts like Aloe and Jojoba. Increased fragrance complexity (Lavender, Terpineol, etc.) could be triggering sensitivity. If you want to keep using this shampoo, you could try diluting it with water before application, but given the addition of strong potential irritants, it may be best to switch.
