You really don't need multiple blades for a smooth shave

I've been thinking of getting rid of my standard plastic safety razor for a while now, so when this popped up on my Vine List, I immediately ordered it.I am really glad I did. Because you don't need a razor with 3, 4, or even 5 blades to get a smooth shave. You just need a SHARP blade and a proper l...ubricant. Besides, all that extra plastic is HORRIBLE. Especially considering that current estimates of actual plastic recycling are now at 5%. So just because a type of plastic may be recyclable, 95% of the time that doesn't happen and it goes to landfill.Pros:For starters, this bad girl is weighty. Solid steel & craftsmanship, the threads on the handle glide smoothly together to enclose the blade housing. The powder coating (color) adds a little bit of extra slick to your shave lubricant. The handle is textured, which helps aid with the €œgrip€_x009d_ while in the bath/shower.The blades included are very sharp, reminds me of my grandfather's imported German made razor blades (perhaps they are, I'm not sure). A single pass removed 90% of the hair, a second pass = super smooth. I was particularly chilly when I first used it (goosebumps) and I gave myself a couple tiny nicks. So make sure your skin is warm when you shave!Cons:It is an older style safety razor, so it does require a bit more forethought and maintenance than your standard disposable razors.You NEED to use a shave balm/or cream when you shave. This will help the razor glide over your skin, and help prevent nicks.While the handle IS textured to aid with grip, it's actually in the wrong direction (down the length of the handle) to REALLY help, especially with the powder coating being super smooth. It would better if the texture was around the circumference of the handle.You need to take your time and open, rinse and dry your razor properly or you will rust your blades really quickly. You don't want to leave it in the shower/bath.I recommend after you apply your shave lubricant, rinse off your hands to have a better grip on the handle. Remember, this thing is a lot heavier than disposable safety razors, so you'll want to have a good grip on it.Suggestions (if read by Kitsch):A snug fitting travel case would be an excellent idea. The silicone cover is great for day to day safety in your home, but it can/does come off when tossed into a toiletry bag (yes, the blade can be removed for travel, but for short trips, it's more convenient to have a case you can keep the razor with the blade in it). Also, a silicone sleeve to put on the handle would really help with grip when all lathered up or change the texture to have some around the circumference of the handle as well.
